National Cheese Day is here…well, not today but tomorrow, January 20th. It’s that one food day that I actually celebrate with the family. In the past we’ve done grilled cheese using different kinds of cheeses, eaten at The Grilled Cheese Truck, or try something that we’ve never tried before.

A couple of days ago I received a “advertising” kind of email. I thought I’ll share in it’s entirety (words in italics lifted straight from the email, pictures from the website) to give you guys an idea on how to celebrate this wonderful holiday.

TOP 4 CHEESE TRENDS TO ENJOY ON JANUARY 20 – NATIONAL CHEESE LOVER’S DAY!

National Cheese Lover’s Day (January 20th) is the perfect time to discover new Swiss cheese delights – and who better to share the latest trends in cheese than Emmi, one of Switzerland’s premium dairy companies.

Bock Fest – it’s simple great beer for beer lovers

Last Year’s winner Weltenburger the world champion Bock beer, is back to try and win the crown again this year on Jan 14, 2012.

I’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to try out the first kosher egg roll food truck in Los Angeles. And that time has come.

I’m loving the overall truck design. Main base color is bright but cool to the eyes. It’s got big letters so a blind bat like myself can read it if it passes by on the street.

The menu is pretty simple yet it provides options for everyone. There’s enough sides and sauces to provide a wide range of variety. There’s a little combo for those going solo and for those picking up food for a group also has the option of the nosh box. Perfection. It is a well rounded, well thought out menu. I am always picking up food for my family so the convenience of the nosh box is highly appreciated.

And the display box? Hello! I love it. Presentation is simple. It gives the customer an idea of what they’re ordering.

Challah Pain Perdu

My favorite…Challah Pain Perdu.  It has stone ground bakery challah, coconut, banana, dry roasted peanuts and white rum. It is just delicious. In my opinion the best sauce to dip this with is the coconut lime glaze or the 5 spice scented applesauce.

The Latke

The Latke is made of russet potato, green onions and red onions. This would be the vegetarian option. I dipped it in the bbq and the garlic sauce. Both are equally good.

Tonque Chinois

Tonque Chinois has kosher beef tongue, shitake mushroom and scallions. Liked by everybody including my 5 year old. And that’s because he doesn’t know it’s beef tongue. I love the garlic sauce with this egg roll.

MOEriginal

The MOEriginal has kosher chicken, cabbage and MOEpices. Another group favorite that goes well with either the bbq or the garlic sauce.

Dipping Sauces

I love the range of sauces they’re providing the customers. You’ve got your cool sweet sauces to the spicy. I’m not a real fan of the sriracha that’s why I didn’t even try the MOE’racha. But the other four were exceptionally good.

MOE Slaw

The MOE Slaw is simply cabbage and carrots in pickled garlic vinaigrette. Dressed right and refreshing.

Tan Tan Noodles

MOEggrolls own version of the Sichuan noodle dish. My first time to ever try tan tan noodles and they’re okay. It’s one of those things where I need to have more than one experience with the dish to form an opinion.

Bubby Ganoush

The Bubby Ganoush is served with chips and the Bubby Ganoush itself is super yummy but the chips were a tad salty. Later on that day I opened a bag of plain unsalted tortilla chips and a few minutes later bubby’s all gone.

Matzo Ball Soup

The Matzo Ball Soup was as expected. Definitely a comfort food.

Another successful first look. I highly recommend MOEggroll if you’re looking to try something new. I’m sure you’ll find a favorite among their mainstays or may one of their seasonal ones. Me? I’ll looking forward to trying their seasonal ones soon.
